Welcome to City Players Amateur Dramatic Society

City Players was founded in 1954 by Brian Erratt, Mary Naylor, Pat Kay, and Nick Di Nitto.

City Players love to put on a show. Based at The Corner Playhouse, we perform three productions a year from our lovely 72 seat theatre, where the audience is invited to enjoy a drink in the cosy bar area before the show and in the interval.

Members of the society have a broad range of skills including acting, set design, building, lighting and sound design and operation, costume design, prop sourcing, production and stage management, and running our own bar – and many more skills needed to bring a production to life. City Players is a charity therefore any money made goes straight back into our next production or the upkeep of the building and society.

Our aim is to promote the advancement and improvement of general education and public appreciation of all aspects of the art of drama. And we invite the local community and surrounding areas to come along watch or get more actively involved in the creative process.

We are always looking for new people, regardless of skills, so no matter what interests you, on or off stage, we can find you something to do – and a cuppa and biscuit too.

Club nights are currently Tuesday and Friday at 7.30pm, and we can often be found building sets on a Sunday morning.
